Named delivery points near a ZIP code

Most USDA state reports give bids by region, not by town. This finder searches among the named locations we could place: 33 current-delivery bids at locations USDA names as "City, ST" (in Arkansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina). Distances are our straight-line calculation from the ZIP code's center to the town's center (Census 2024 Gazetteer). Your ZIP stays in your browser and never goes to our server.

    What basis means

    In USDA's words:

The difference between a spot or "cash" price and a specified futures price.

Term used to represent the economic value or worth of a commodity. Often used to distinguish all other prices from futures trading on an organized commodity futures market.

Grain elevator located in a local farming community to which farmers bring their grain for sale or storage.

USDA AMS Market News, Grain terms: “Country Elevator”

An elevator located at a major point of accumulation and distribution in the movement of commodities. Usually has greater handling facilities than sub-terminal.

An elevator usually located on deep water and able to load export orders into ships.

USDA AMS Market News, Grain terms: “Export Elevator”

USDA's state reports print basis with a letter for the futures month it's measured against. The reports explain:

    CBOT/KCBT/MGE Trade month symbols: F January; G February; H March; J April; K May; M June; N July; Q August; U September; V October; X November; Z December.
